La Maison du Vigneron

What a find Le Clos de la Rose is. In particular La Maison du Vigneron. The accommodation is excellent and has everything you need for a first class self catering holiday, although there are good and reasonably priced restaurants in the village. The gite's location is ideal for touring the beautiful and historic Loire Valley. Owners Letsie & Bill are charming people who go out of their way to ensure your holiday is as enjoyable as possible and always on hand to offer helpful and knowledgeable advice on the area. We will definitely be returning for an extended period next year and would have no hesitation in highly recommending this property.

La Maison d'Amis

The gite was equipped and decorated to a high standard, and the location was fantastic for exploring the Loire Valley, lots of chateaus and vineyards literally on the doorstep. But that wasn't the best bit, Letsie and Bill made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. They greeted us with a chilled glass of local wine and even accompanied us to local vineyards to help with the translation. They helped with advice about local restaurants and shops etc when needed. They were there when we needed them and discreet and out of the way when we just wanted to relax or sunbathe on the patio. Behind the gates, we were in our own little haven, and it felt peaceful and tranquil the whole time we were there. Le Puy Notre Dame is a lovely village with plenty of amenities (although some of the shops were shut when we were there in late august as is common in France). 2 restaurants which were both good, nice in different ways, but very easily walkable from the gite. Would recommend this gite, and find it hard to say anything negative about it - it was a 5 to 6 hour drive from Calais, but we didn't mind that at all. If you want something small, quiet and relaxing, you will be very happy here.

La Maison d'Amis

Arrived after a long journey on Saturday evening to be greeted by Bill with a very warm welcome and a glass of wine on the patio. The gite was lovely and had everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. It is well located for visiting the local area, and the village itself is beautiful. Unfortunately we did not meet Letsie who was back in England packing up for their final move to France. Bill was a wonderful host and really put himself out by recommending places to visit and arranging wine tastings at some of the local vineyards (there are over 50 in the surrounding areas). The properties have been tastefully renovated, and are beautiful whilst retaining their original character. The enclosed courtyard is really pleasant and relaxing, just what the doctor ordered. Bill was working on the garden area at the rear of the property while we were there - can't wait to see the finished product!! Really enjoyed your company Bill. Looking forward to seeing you again and meeting Letsie. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

"Wonderful Place to Stay" Guest Rating: 5/5

La Maison d'Amis

We had previously stayed as a party of 4 in the larger gite, this time there was just the two of us so we chose the smaller property. What We really love about La Clos de la Rose is that you can really feel that Bill & Letsie love the place they have chosen to make their home. The gite is very well equipped - fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, large shower, TV etc Lovely gardens which are a continuing work in progress and secure parking. Bill and Letsie are a mine of information on the area and can offer suggestions for trips varying from 10 minutes to several hours away. Their love of classic cars is a real winner for us and we have booked our 3rd visit for July in the larger gite - we are introducing two new guests to this fabulous place.

La Maison d’Amis

We received a very warm friendly welcome and after being shown around our very clean and tidy traditional French Gite with all mod/cons. We then sat outside on the patio in the shade for a welcoming drink and a chat about things to do and where to go in the area. Bill and Letsie proved to be very helpful and friendly during our stay and organised outings for us: Wine tasting, Aircraft museum etc. We left as friends and will be back

La Maison du Vigneron

Had a wonderful time at this very recently restored gite located in a lovely quiet village (but with all the basic amenities including boulangerie less than a minute away) in the Loire and very convenient to visit the area's chateaux, rivers, vineyards and old cities. The owner, Bill, lives on site and was very welcoming and always helpful. We will be returning.

A most enjoyable holiday in such a lovely place.

Warm and welcoming – both the beautiful buildings and the fantastic couple that make your stay fantastic . . . 'Once acquaintances always friends'

Our highlights have been : Bill and Letsie’s BBQ (exceptional fish), Brézé, Saumur, Retro Grand Prix (in Bill’s TR3), Walking tour of Le Puy Notre Dame Shopping at SuperU, The Zoo, Doué La Fontaine – a most underrated town, Chinon.
And for me (Andy), the ruins, Roman bridge, dolmens and many trips to vineyards, wine tasting!

Letsie and Bill are absolutely lovely people whose friendliness and willingness to help, chat and offer ideas for having the scenic and breathtaking make your stay unforgettably perfect! Thank you!

Also the beautiful homely gîte Bill and his team built is a lovely place to stay while visiting the Loire.

Couldn’t get enough of the small town of Le Puy Notre Dame and the boulangerie, bar and restaurants who were so accommodating and quick to befriend us!

Would definitely come back (move in?!) in an instant!

Thanks for everything, merci beaucoup, a la prochain fois.
